Welcome to Sharudin Jamal Blogspot

More than a decade ago, I was diagnosed of having a peculiar illness known as Bipolar Affected Disorder. My world as I known it crumbled; I lost my business, then my job and later my sense of purpose. It was during this dark moments I rediscovered the joy of running and writing. Most of the articles here are about my rekindled pleasure of hitting the tarmac, my coming to terms with the illness and my discovery of the meaning of life.

I always on the lookout for inspirations to write in these three areas with the hope that they will shed new ray of hope to others who are in the same position as I am.

Do keep in touch if you feel connected through these essays.

3/11/18 My Life with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad aka Chedet

Hi there,

It's been slightly over a year since I contributed any article here.  I had been busy with 7 other blogs that are private to the blog subscribers only.  In addition I had also been busy preparing for my personal record breaking 2020 Marathon starting from the couch to 10 k.  It is a 2 years preparation.

Here is my recent photo:

I got plenty of encouragements from you readers on my blog articles.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  Well, just to give you a glimpse of what I did last month alone, here are my contributions to Dr M's blog Chedet.cc that he published (last 2 years there were some that he censored when I was at the peak of my mania LOL).  He goes by the name of Chedet.

Chedet is a good sport and I adore this man very much.  He is also my email Pen Pal.

October 2018 Posting

Salam Chedet,
Firstly congratulation on RMK 11. I like that very much.
Now, regarding this article; YOU ROCK MAN!
I am never supportive of absolute power – power corrupts. Therefore it must be government of the people for the people by the people. When you said the Western Democracy was only 200 years old. you probably referring to the industrial revolution. Probably you are right (I doubt it LOL). It went all the way to the Greeks. Therefore the word demo stems from the word demi, which means people.
One of the very thing the modern democracy founders did was the separation of church and the state, which was what originally mooted by the Greeks; the separation of religion and government.
I highly recommend you to read the “Republic” by Plato. It is an eye opener I tell you.
So Chedet, at 93 you finally becoming pro Western democracy? Never to late to teach an old dog a new trick huh?
I got to let you go Sir, I am late for my marathon training.

P.s. I absolutely agree with you that Malaysians are timid. Boy, you got the spirit.

Dear Chedet,
I am in the writing mood today. Thus, I write about mental illness.
Now after 20 years dealing with mental disorder, I like to say that it is not an easy illness to deal with. The illness is bad, but the medication is even worse.
My illness is due to the inability of the brain to regulate the dopamine surge. Too much leads to psychosis and too little leads to dark depression. This swing between 2 polarities is what causes Bipolar Disorder.
Medication is not as easy as popping a few pills. The meds alter the chemical in the body which cause a set of problems of their own. Hence the medication is as bad if not worse.
Mental illness is a disability. To put it plainly people with mental illness cannot earn a living. In my case my judgement *go[d] effected.
*External intervention. It’s a cipher.
Therefore the challenge is to support our livelihood and in my case, the RM500 per month medication in addition to the various supplements which is another RM250 a month.
I am fortunate to have a wife who cares and supportive. If not I will be on the streets.
It’s not easy living with mental illness. As much as there are sympathizers, you are basically alone. Since 2009 I am pretty much a hermit. Nobody want to deal with a crazy person.
If Dr Wan Azizah is serious about mental illness, then it has to start with creating awareness that mental illness is curable. We have our highs and lows. At one time I though[] I was beyond redemption. Between 1999 to 2014 I was a goner. However after the ECT and constant consumption of the best medicine available, I managed to be functioning again.
My parting thought to you is the quality of my health improves drastically the day I improve my diet and lifestyle.
Chedet, mental illness effects 1 out of 4 people. As we become a develop nation, we will see the number rising. My advice is, have a sound plan to address the various challenges the patients face including social and economical. We got to nip it while it is still manageable.
There, I said my piece. My input towards RMK 11.

Chedet, Chedet my dear Chedet,
I told you Anwar will do something foolish sooner or later.
What the f**k he said in ABIM conference that we don’t have ties with Israel. I have a GOOD relationship with Jerusalem for years
GOM was evaluating to have an embassy there as early as last year. Even you said we are neutral to all countries shortly upon winning the election.
Sir, did you realize that it took me 20 years to build a relationship with Israel? You dimwit Malaysians cannot differentiate between the Zionist Regime and the good citizens of Jerusalem can’t you?
I am not surprised if the idiot screws up China.
Gosh, I am so peeved.

Hi Chedet,
The key is to let go of power. You will become more. Otherwise power will consume you. Learn from Lord of the Rings.
It is never too late to learn about power. Simply put, power is the ability to act. Knowledge is not power, it is potential power.
A swordsman wi[th] only face 3 possibilities in a duel:
* He lives
* He dies
* Both die
Always look for the opportunity to die. Only when you prepared yourself for death will you start to live.
“Shinu Kikai O Motomo”.
Remember the lesson in mushin no shin aka the Spinmaster and the 8 Swordsmen that I told you many months ago.
Aim small miss small.
Good luck Sir.

Dear Chedet,
My short essay entitled: Regarding Chedet
Chedet is a hardy Old Coot. However he is a man with a big heart. Otherwise he cannot have so many children and adopted a couple on the side.
He likes people who are smart AND hardworking. The irony is he spent much of his energy trying to change the Malays. He tried the instant noodle approach and *no[t] he is seeing the colossal effect. Malays are lazy. I can say this because I am part Malay. So what I’m saying is I am part guilty of that too. Compares to the Chinese, the Malays are mares next to the thoroughbreds
*By now you realize that any misspelling is a cipher by external party.
Being lazy is fine, but they are a bunch of opportunists. The Malays LOOOVE easy money; MLM, get rich quick schemes, passive investments, taking bribes, Mr 10% and what have you.
Chedet on the other ha[]d closed one eye on all these because he wanted to see quick result. To him it is OK to have a few who are rich (with whatever means) because the wealth will trickle down to the masses eventually. Unfortunately these greedy Malays hogs the wealth to themselves. It only trickle within their circles; family, kin and cronies. Even scholarships and loans are for the taking of the greedy Malay elitists.
So in a way it is Chedet who created the monsters that we have now. During his 22 years reign, the Malays were pampered by handouts and subsidies. Those in the ruling normally have one hand on the policies and another hand on the projects. If you watch Malay drama, it is always about a rich Datuk or his kin involving in multi-million mega project.
Poor Chedet. He is good at giving the fish but not at showing how to fish.
What I like to see is Chedet acting as the pacesetter for a Malaysian Malaysia. I like the concept of Bangsa Malaysia as in Malay Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian and Indian Malaysian. I however don’t want to see the Malays favored over the other races. It should be egalitarian in nature because we are in a racial cauldron of multiple ethnicity. Our children are now hybrids.
It is my sincere request for Chedet to complete his full term. We need a nation builder. Not just a surgeon who dissects and leave. Please consider this option Sir.
